Welcome to Movement Notes
A social movements field journal.
Many scientists and researchers keep what are called field journals, notes on our observations while in the field and the thoughts they provoke in the moment.
As I study and work with companies and causes on their social movements, Movement Notes emerges as my field journal.
In each Movement Notes, I share insights into how and why social movements of the day start, build, succeed or sputter out. I look for behaviors and patterns among participants, particularly leaders that can inform your attempts at social change.
Movement Notes also shares findings from our own Cause and Social Influence research projects, as well as links to recent articles we’ve authored and interviews we’ve given.
Our goal is to synthesize what we learn while immersed in social movements and then share it with you.
The social issue space is one of passion and empathy. Companies and organizations should be establishing milestones for anyone to fulfill and ensuring they understand how their actions contribute right now toward progress..
We hope Movement Notes helps you do just that.
